News Update 13 July 2008

Snetterton- In Race one after a first lap spin, Tony Gilham (ReDesign Racing) battled back into second in pro-am1, only to be forced out with a detached hose. Race two Rice had run with them for most of the race, but spun into retirement at Riches as the race re-started for the second time. In avoiding Rice, Steve Rance (Parr Motorsport) and Gilham (ReDesign Racing) both had to spin as well. Rice was out of the race, but Gilham rejoined to win the pro-am1 category. Thruxton- First in pro-am1. It was Gilham (ReDesign Racing) who came through to sixth overall and pro-am1 victory. "I just kept my head down and kept going," said Gilham after upping his pace throughout the weekend. For the full news....

Rockingham- Second in pro-am1 and backing up his earlier category win was Tony Gilham and his performance earned him the 'driver of the weekend' award, while his ReDesign Racing team was confirmed as winners of the 'team of the weekend' award. For the full news....

The championship

Ten race weekends featuring 20 races at all of the leading race circuits in Britain, including Brands Hatch, Oulton Park and Donington Park. The Challenge

With former champions graduating to the Porsche Supercup and the FIA GT Championship the way is open for a new driver to take the coveted Porsche Carrera Cup GB title in 2008. VW Racing Cup champion Tony Gilham will be a major contender for this year’s Carrera Cup GB. Tony Gilham will be driving with support of the team at ReDesign Racing, and backed by Karl Chopra of Design 911, Chris Stewart of Regal Autosport, Kieth Davies of Little Mote Garage, sponsored by GIAC & DesignTek. 

The race car

The new Porsche 911 (997) GT3 Cup is entering the 2008 motorsport season with engine output increased to 420 bhp. The car will be raced in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup, the world’s fastest international brand trophy, and worldwide in national Porsche Carrera Cups and GT3 Cup Challenges. 265 units of this production-based racing car developed in Weissach will be built on Porsche’s production line in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.
